VIII FESTIVAL PERGOLESI SPONTINI 5 - 14 September 2008 Jesi, Maiolati Spontini, Monsano, Montecarotto, Monte San Vito, San Marcello FIRST OPERAS. THE ROOTS OF GENIUS
Pergolesi’s first serious opera and Spontini’s first comic opera are the opening and closing works on the program of the Festival, dedicated, in this eighth year, to the moment in which genius blossoms and creative fantasy takes its first steps. The first operas of great composers - from Mozart to Mendelsshon - alternate with the music of less well-known Maestros, pioneers and precursors as the Neapolitan Nicola Fiorenza, younger than Pergolesi, and Ludovico Giustini from Pistoia, Bach’s contemporaneous. Very young musicians who have displayed precocious talent animate the “Night of the Prodigies”. Theatres, churches, courtyards and parks echo back to ancient instruments’ sounds, or their precious copies. It’s Festival’s time.
