The Pergolesi Spontini Foundation was founded in 2000 in Jesi, by the Regione Marche, Province of Ancona, the Town Councils of Jesi and Maiolati Spontini, as a non-profit organization with a private body governed by public law. Since 2001 the Foundation has also been supported by Town Councils of Montecarotto, Monte San Vito and Monsano and also by private enterprises, that are also members of the board of directors, such us: Gruppo Pieralisi, CNH Italia, S.E.DA., Leo Burnett Italia, Starcom Italia. Other institutions from the Marche region have also plan to join the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation in this busy time of cultural development.

The Foundation, based on an innovative project that sets out to combine various cultural forms in performance, with the principal aims of promoting interest in the work of two composers: Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and Gaspare Spontini.
Since 2001 the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation has organized an annual international festival which promotes and appreciates the work of these two composers. The Festival has produced musical programmes according to a scientific method and in collaboration with renowned artists.
The Festival is a perfect ending to a vibrant summer of art in the Marche region. A touring production of musical events in locations of great artistic and regional charm: theatres, churches, villas and parks are home to the operas, concerts and musicals events of the Festival.
Since the summer of 2005 the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation has been also entrusted with the promotion, valorisation and management of the G.B. Pergolesi Theatre of Jesi, with his status of Traditional Lyric Theatre and with its programme of opera, prose and symphonic season, and of the Teatro Studio Valeria Moriconi in Jesi, the Teatro Spontini in Maiolati Spontini and the Teatro Comunale in Montecarotto.
