In 2010 the Third Centenary of Pergolesi’s birth will be celebrated (Jesi, January 4^th 1710 - Pozzuoli, March 16^th 1736).

On this occasion the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation is organizing and promoting many events and projects; the first of them is the institution of a National Commettee at the Italian Ministry of the Culture.

The main purpose of this National Commettee will be to promote, to coordinate and to supervise the events and projects that will be proposed for the Celebrations, and to organize independently other cultural, economic and tourist events in some Italian cities.

The Pergolesi Spontini Foundation has prepared a project involving the towns connected to Pergolesi’s life, in particular Jesi, Naples, Pozzuoli, Rome, besides Bologna, Milan and Paris, without precluding other national and international participations.

The plan for the Pergolesi’s Celebrations will start in 2009 and includes:

1. the staging of all Pergolesi’s operas of certain attribution during 2010;

2. the performance of all Pergolesi’s vocal and instrumental compositions, starting from 2009;

3. the realization of didactic activities directed to Italian and foreign students, starting from 2009;

4. the realization of the exhibition “The eighteenth century, the Pergolesi’s century”, during 2010;

5. the realization of multimedia products;

6. the organization of international conventions of studies;

7. the realization of scientific and popularizing publications.

 At the same time the Foundation Pergolesi Spontini, through its Artistic Director M° Gianni Tangucci and its Scientific Consultant M° Vincenzo De Vivo, is increasing its relationship with national and international Opera Institutions to multiply the possibility of proposing Pergolesi’s works.

The Foundation is also proposing the institution of a National Edition of Pergolesi’s works, with the purpose of finishing the uncompleted revision of some scores and updating the other ones.
